{"id":362,"date":"2015-06-22T13:44:29","date_gmt":"2015-06-22T17:44:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/commercevillagevet.com\/Team-Portal\/?p=362"},"modified":"2015-06-22T13:44:29","modified_gmt":"2015-06-22T17:44:29","slug":"important-info","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/commercevillagevet.com\/Team-Portal\/important-info\/","title":{"rendered":"IMPORTANT INFO!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi everyone,<\/p>\n<p>Here are the changes we have made from receiving the results from our AAHA inspection:<\/p>\n<p>*Wipe down the pill counters after each time.\u00a0 There are baby wipes on the pill counter countertop to use to wipe them down.<\/p>\n<p>*We have secured the Proin and Gabapentin.\u00a0 They are now in the safe along with the other controlled drugs.<\/p>\n<p>*There are CE Tracker forms in the hospital policy book under the Training\/CE tab.\u00a0 There is a CE Tracker form for each of you with your name on it.\u00a0 It is your responsibility to log all your CE yourselves.\u00a0 You need to log everything!\u00a0 Conferences, lunch and learns, seminars, reading, etc.\u00a0 I have logged everything up to the inspection.\u00a0 Log anything that you have done after that point.<\/p>\n<p>*Write down what the pet is eating at each appointment.<\/p>\n<p>*Sarah has made an anesthetic machine maintenance log.\u00a0 Please use that log for all maintenance, changing sodasorb, weighing f-air cannisters, etc.\u00a0 It is in the Housekeeping Binder under the autoclave. Thank you Sarah!<\/p>\n<p>*We no longer have to keep a radiology log!!\u00a0 Yay! You can still print out the xray label and use that to input all your info into the xray software and stick the label on our sheets we have been using but you don&#8217;t need to write anything down.\u00a0 When\u00a0registering the pet&#8217;s info into the software please add your initials under comments.\u00a0 Tht way our software will be our log from here on out.<\/p>\n<p>*There are new safety posters hung in surgery and radiology.<\/p>\n<p>*There is now a map of our emergency action plan hanging on the kennel door along with all the other posters.\u00a0 A written version of our EAP is in our binder under workplace safety.<\/p>\n<p>*Please initial every entry into the patient&#8217;s charts.\u00a0 If you write in a chart&#8230;.put your initials after what you have written.<\/p>\n<p>*Buprenex and metacam need to go home in a 60 dram pill vial.\u00a0 They can not go home in a plastic baggy!!\u00a0 Preventatives can still go home in a baggy because they are still in their original packaging.<\/p>\n<p>*Each patient needs their own admittance sheets, cage cards, treatment plans, etc. even if they are in the same family.\u00a0 A client may have a dnr for one pet but not for the other, etc.<\/p>\n<p>*Please be careful of your conversations with other team members.\u00a0 Clients can hear all conversations that are happening in the lab and sometimes even in the back.\u00a0 Please try to stop all idle conversations if we have all exam rooms full and people waiting up front.\u00a0\u00a0If we are that busy please have your conversations with team members during lunch, after work or during\u00a0down time.\u00a0 Our first priority is getting our client and patients needs met!\u00a0 Please also be conscious of interrupting or joining a conversation that you are not a part of.\u00a0 Sometimes there are conversations going on and it\u00a0can add confusion and\/or frustration if another person takes part.<\/p>\n<p>*We have been extremely busy!\u00a0 We\u00a0are still on the look\u00a0out for another employee!\u00a0 Please try to prioritize tasks and keep time management in mind!\u00a0 If all rooms and lobby are full and you are doing a discharge in the kitchen then we are BUSY!!! Please try to be as quick as possible with discharges and appointment.\u00a0 Here are a few helpful tips&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Closures for discharges \/ Chatty Clients<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Politely take control of the conversation immediately.<\/li>\n<li>If the client keeps talking over you or interrupting you, stop talking, let them finish their thought, then say \u201cI am going to go over all the important details real quick with you then when I\u2019m finished I\u2019ll answer any questions or concerns you have\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>If you are stuck in a room when putting an appointment in, say \u201cI think that everything you\u2019re telling me is important for the doctor to hear so let me go see if I can get her in here as quickly as I can.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Know when you need to speed up and know when it\u2019s ok to slow down.\u00a0 If it\u2019s the client\u2019s first pet and first surgery then you will probably have to spend more time going over things but if it\u2019s the client\u2019s 10<sup>th<\/sup> dog getting their 10<sup>th<\/sup> dental then you will only have to hit on the important info and that\u2019s it.<\/li>\n<li>Less is more. Everything is written down for the client so keep that in mind.<\/li>\n<li>If you get stuck in any situation say \u201cI need to excuse myself.\u00a0 Dr. _______ needs my help with a patient.<\/li>\n<li>If you are not crazy and you and the client have time, then go over all discharge instructions at the post-op phone call.\u00a0 That way you can keep the actual discharge extremely brief.\u00a0 You should only have to ask if there are any questions and explain those and all other important info.<\/li>\n<li>If children are in the appointment or at discharge and they keep persistently asking questions say \u201cIt is very important that I go over ________ instructions with your mom, dad, grandma, etc.\u201d Ignore the child until you are fully through!\u00a0 We are not being rude but sometimes parents do not intervene.\u00a0 We all love kids but we need to be punctual, quick and get it done!\u00a0 Tune the kids out if needed\u2026\u2026..<\/li>\n<li>Give important info at discharge and that\u2019s it.\u00a0 Stop talking.\u00a0 Ask the client what questions they have.\u00a0 Finish by saying: Alright, I have gone over all the discharge info with you Mrs.\/Mr. _________.\u00a0 Please call with any questions or concerns.\u00a0 I will now take you to Beth\/Laurel to have her finish up with you.\u00a0 I will go and get ______ for you.\u00a0 Thank you so much.<\/li>\n<li>If the client needs help to the car then do just that!!\u00a0 Help the client\/patient to the car and then turn back to the building saying Call with any questions.
