Fluids

So…….fluids have been on allocation for about the last 6 months.  Which means you can only get an allotted amount of fluids at a time.  We have been very fortunate in that it has not affected us yet.  We are running very low on fluids now.  We have about 6 250mls bags left and are getting a case of 12 LRS liter tomorrow.  We have a few patients on SQ fluids, obviously all our surgical/dental patients and then any hospitalized patients need fluids.  Please use fluids sparingly and save all fluids!!  Do not waste any fluids (unless contaminated).  We may no longer receive any 250 bags.  So we will be running low on fluids.  We have about 12 liters of NaCl.  Please talk to the doctor about maybe using NaCl on a patient to be able to use less of LRS.  They are estimating that the earliest date for fluids to come off allocation is April 2015.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Halloween Pictures and a few other things

Hey everyone,

We are having our annual Halloween event on Sunday, October 26th from 12-2.  We are looking for a couple people to help out with it.  If anyone is interested, please let me know.  You will get a $75 credit on your account for helping out.

We have not been as busy these last two weeks as we had been.  We will be sending team members home early if we do not need a full staff.  Please be flexible and understanding.  We will try to make it as fair as possible for everyone.

I am working on Phase Training Manuals for all departments.  I think these will help with training and provide a better understanding of what needs to be learned and in what time frame.  As soon as I finish those I will hand out a manual to Natalie, Dianna and Jenny.  I will then assign a “Trainer” to each “Trainee” and have the two of you work on the Phase Training together.  It is still everyones responsibility to help out with training, answer questions, and teach even if you are not the appointed “Trainer”.

I think everyone has been doing a great job.  Please continue to keep up the good work and continue to work together as a team. Let me know if you have any concerns or questions.

Schedule

Hi everyone,

The schedule is done for November.  Please check it out and make sure no changes need to be made.  Please let me know asap if you need time off in December.

Also, we are carrying a 4 pound AND 8 pound bag of feline I/d now so please triple check yourself when you grab a bag.  Please make sure to tell people that there is a charge for stool samples.  We still have had many people come in and are under the impression that there is no charge to drop off a sample.

HAPPY VET TECH WEEK!! You are all amazing and we are so happy to have you as a part of our amazing team.  We will be having lunch brought in on Thursday to celebrate you and all your hard work.  Thank you for all you do!  You rock!

Schedule/Surgical Codes, Etc

Hi everyone,

PLEASE triple check your schedule weekly.  I have had to make a lot of changes so please take it upon yourself to triple check your own schedule.  Thanks!

I have made three new surgical bundles to hopefully make your lives easier! There are  Cystotomy, Carnassial, and General Surgery bundles now.  Keep in mind that you will still have to tailor your treatment plan to each patient and still make changes and additions but at least it will give you a baseline to go off of. Let me know what you think…….nothing is in stone so I can make changes once we play around with them for awhile.

Dr. Engers has been a great addition to our team!   I am very happy to have her on our team.  Please help her out if she needs it.

I will be very sad to see Carolann go……(sniff, sniff).  Maybe we should have a going away party????

We want to welcome Danielle to our team.  She will be our new receptionist.  Please make her feel welcome, help her out and lets train her well!!

Please also help Dianna out.  She has been here since the beginning but it’s a whole new ballgame as a technician.  If I am not able to train her please someone step up to the plate and take her under your wing for the day.  Help her with the flow of surgery, charges, homecare sheets, drug dosages, iv’s, anesthesia, dentals, surgery, etc.  There is a lot to learn!

Jaci will obviously be going on maternity leave pretty soon so please be self sufficient.  She will not be here to put in charges, homecare sheets, meds, etc.  Please put that in the back of your head that you either need to get these things done or give it to Heather or another technician you are working with.  So please remember that when dealing with time management.  Remember that I’m here too if you need me to help you out:)

You are all amazing!!  Thank you for all you do and for being such amazing team players.  Even our clients can sense our bond as a team and it makes such a more pleasant atmosphere for everyone.  Keep up the great work everyone!

Dr. Engers

Hi everyone,

Dr. Engers will be starting this Monday, August 4th.  She will be working Mondays 9-7, Thursdays 8-6, every other Saturday 8-1 and every other Wednesday surgery.  Please help her feel welcome and help her out with whatever she needs.  I will be working with her for the first week to get her accustomed to the flow, protocols, etc.  She sees dogs, cats and will see pocket pets if needed.  Do not schedule a pocket pet surgery with her yet.

We are also looking to hire a receptionist 30-35 hours per week.  With Carolann moving (hopefully soon, fingers crossed) to the UK and Jaci going on maternity leave soon it just makes sense to have another receptionist.

Please be flexible these next few months.  The schedule has been changing a lot, so please check it because some of your shifts may have changed.  We have a couple people taking vacations in the fall and obviously Jaci will be gone for a few months so we will really need everyone to try to pull together as a team to cover shifts.  Please let me know ASAP if you need any time off for September or October.  If you are not currently full time, please let me know if you would be willing to pick up any hours.

Everyone has been doing an amazing job!  I appreciate all of you and all of your hard work!! It does not go unnoticed!!

Revised 6/4/14

Sorry everyone,

There seems to be a glitch in my first post. So we’ll try it again!

Everybody has been amazing and really giving 110%.  It does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Please know you are all very appreciated and we thank you for all you do.

I would like to have a tech meet and also a reception meeting

I was looking at Monday, June 9th for a reception meeting at 1:30. Does that work?  Please let me know.  Dianna, you can either phone in for the meeting or I can just bring you up to speed that Friday.

Then I was looking at Friday, June 13th or June 20th at noon for a tech meeting. Jaci or Jenna, whoever works till noon that day would stay late for the meeting, Sarah you could either phone in or come in for the meeting.  What works for everyone? Please let me know.

Please let me know if you need any time off for July or August.
